Medication Administration through Feeding Tubes
Many patients require medications through feeding tubes due to various reasons such as malabsorption or trouble swallowing due to weakness or paralysis. This feeding tubes course is intended for caregivers who care for individuals that require medication administration via feeding tubes. This is a theoretical based course in that it introduces the caregiver to tube feeding, types of feeding tubes, site care, flushing, and safe medication administration via feeding tubes. This module is intended to provide caregivers with introductory knowledge prior to feeding tube medication administration. Trained home staff or community health care professionals (ex. Community nurses) are required to provide the caregiver with in-home training and practical administration of medications through this route.
